Help Save a Life With Social Media

A great ministry project is helping to eliminate malaria using social media. Every 30 seconds a child in Africa dies of malaria. In cooperation with UNICEF, you can provide a bed net for a donation of $10.00 that just may save a life. April 25th is World Malaria Day. Check out the following article by Brian Solis on how you can be a blessing by helping to end this preventable disease:

“What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?” James 2:14

Text the word “NETS” to 864233 and a donation of $10.00 will be charged to your cell phone bill.

Until next time, remember, you can do all things through Christ Jesus.

Putting Faith in Motion

Courtesy of Niall Crotty on Flickr

Digital social media is a great tool that ministries and individuals can use creatively to bless others in need. Indeed, James tells us that  faith without works is dead (James 2:17).

Imagine helping to feed the hungry, reducing poverty in Africa, or becoming a micro-lender. And all at a cost of five (5) minutes of your time or $25.00.

“Impossible”, you say?

The following excellent article published in Mashable tells you exactly how you can do just that!

http://mashable.com/2010/04/17/social-good-micro-lending/

Can you suggest other ways your ministry can use social media creatively to  put faith into motion and bless others?

Until next time, remember, you can do all things through Christ Jesus!

God Bless,

Hope For Haiti DocuMedia

Documedia – broad based category of documentary type expressions  based on social media elements.

Faith Based Media 2.0 (FBM 2.0) is the application of social media and web 2.0 technologies to ministry work. It is an incredibly powerful tool for sharing the Gospel of  Jesus Christ. The devastating earthquake which Haiti experienced earlier this year provided an opportunity for the church to truly witness in a time of catastrophe. This Hope For Haiti DocuMedia is a brief glimpse into the story of how FBM 2.0 is being used to help minister to the victims of the earthquake. You can be a blessing to the people of Haiti by texting “Haiti” to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross.

Smart Social Media

Social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) is a fantastic way to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Saddleback Church, where Rick Warren is Pastor, really has a good understanding of how to use social media in a smart way. Check out this great example: http://saddleback.com/invite/

How is your church using social media to share the gospel?

Until next time, remember, you can do all things through Christ Jesus!

Become A Blessing Thru Social Media

Often we feel isolated from the needs of others in our communities and beyond. Believe it or not, social networks provide many creative avenues to meeting  many of these needs.

Using YouTube, Shelly Juskowicz, Pastor to Women at Mariner’s Church in Irvine, CA provides an excellent example of how to use Craigslist to identify and meet some of the pressing needs of neighbors in her community. Paul Steinbrueck picks this idea up in his excellent post on OurChurch.com http://blog.ourchurch.com/2010/04/02/internet-evangelism-idea-1-using-craigslist-to-serve-local-people-in-need/

The steps are simple: 1) Go to http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites “For Sale” section; 2) select “Wanted” category; 3) Find listing for someone in need; 4) bless them by filling the need (or forwarding the request to someone/ministry/organization that can.)

Other social networks that identify needs are www.thecommon.org and www.freecycle.org.

Does your ministry have needs that may be met by these social networks? Hey, it’s a two-way street. You know, you can’t beat God at giving!

Until next time, remember, you can do all things through Christ Jesus!

God Bless,

Kenneth Lillard
